In the Making: Robotics and Toolmaking
Thursday, February 15, 2024
1:00pm - 2:00pm
Virtual, live streamed from NBSS
When thinking of the work done here at NBSS—using our hands to build and repair objects—robotics rarely comes to mind. Yet, increasingly our tools and many objects we rely on are manufactured using robotics. In this program, using tools as our focus, we will explore and discuss the ways in which human hands and material knowledge tie into robotics in manufacturing.
Panelists:
- Julie Shah, H.N. Slater Professor, Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and director of the Interactive Robotics Group of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT
- Paul Reidt, founding Principal of Kochman Reidt + Haigh Cabinetmakers
- Nicholas Boston CF ’24, NBSS Cabinet & Furniture Making student and tool maker
