Cedar Stanistreet

While in music school for violin performance, I became interested in the history of violin making. I researched Stradivari’s golden period instruments for a semester project, and got the idea to find out more about violin making.

I found out about NBSS through a friend who was going into the piano technology program. After visiting the school and finding out about the other violin making schools in the country, I decided to enroll at NBSS.

I had no violin making experience prior to coming to school here, so I was starting from scratch for many things. I have learned a great many skills in the almost 3 years I was there.

When I wasn’t in school, I played a lot of music. I rehearsed and played gigs on the weekends with my band, Nor’easter. I also liked to do a variety of outdoor activities, dance, cook, and whatever else I could fit in!
