Scott Reichenbach PC ’15
How did you discover your field?
I don’t ever remember choosing to be a carpenter, but it turned out to be the best decision I didn’t make, haha!
What was the best part of your NBSS training?
Lunch time in the North End.
What are you up to now?
Owner operator of SR Woodworks, a small custom carpentry business focused on top quality craftsmanship and client relationships.
Can you describe your work in just three words?
Worth the investment.
Where do you get inspiration?
Seeing other companies/craftsman pushing the limits of the construction and trying new things. I’ll be a student of the trade forever.
Besides woodworking, what keeps you busy?
As a one man band there is much more to business than the actual work. Paperwork, advertising, accounting, tool and shop upkeep, continuous client relations… the list goes on. These are all crucial to my business and the time devoted to them is very important me. The only thing more important is spending time hanging out with my son Mac and wife Rachael. Without their support none of this is possible. It’s not easy being married to a busy carpenter!
Favorite tool or machine?
Sharp #2 pencil
What’s your favorite place in the world?
My shop.
What career or life advice can you share?
If your looking for an “easy” job, you will fail in this industry. You have to want the the hard challenging work. Just because the final product is beautiful doesn’t mean the process wasn’t dirty and difficult.
