Emily Scott Surette JM ’07
Before NBSS, I was an undergraduate at Boston University studying advertising. While in New Zealand my junior year, I realized that a corporate career wasn’t what I was looking for in life. I needed to be more hands on and more independent.
I wanted a skilled-based career — one that presented a new challenge everyday and produced tangible results. The NBSS jewelry program was the perfect match for me.
The most valuable aspect of the program was the intense, hands-on style of teaching. It taught me self discipline and hard work. I learned that if I didn’t put the effort in, I wasn’t going to get the results that I wanted. I needed strong technical skills in order to create the jewelry that I was proud to put my name on and NBSS gave me those skills through its knowledgeable and supportive teachers.
