Max McGehee PT ’14
I grew up in Denmark and immigrated to the US after high school, following my father who had moved back to his home town of Little Rock, Arkansas. I have been in and out of both college and jobs and ended up with an unfulfilling career in banking.
However, about two years ago I started working on piano rebuilding projects with my father and a full time position soon followed. It was clear that I had found something I could be happy doing.
I considered many options about how best to proceed with increasing my skills. North Bennet Street School’s Piano Technology program was recommended by many other piano technicians and, after researching the school’s credentials, I applied and was accepted.
When I am not working with pianos you can find me reading a book or listening to music – in the nearest park if the weather permits. If the weather is bad, I’ll be playing a game of chess in the workshop. In Arkansas, I hike mountains, practice yoga and play guitar, and I also like activities that allows me to create, be it drawing doodles or writing a snippet lyric.
Coming to Boston and attending North Bennet Street School has been the best choice of my life, I have learned so much in the past year worked with other aspiring piano technicians, and I have gained a solid foundation for the craft.
