Laurie Lynn Berezin JM ’11
Immediately before I came to NBSS, I was working full-time as an office manager for two sister companies: a pharmaceutical consulting firm and a behavioral health software company.
Prior to the office manager job, I was working as customer service supervisor at a wholesale bead and jewelry findings company, which was one of the jobs I’ve had that made me fall in love with the jewelry industry!
I had done silversmithing as a hobby for several years, and I really loved it and couldn’t get enough. I was (and still am) selling my jewelry creations online and in stores, and I knew that I wanted to continue doing that – but full-time instead of part-time.
My 40-hour/week office job was starting to take a toll on my physical and mental health! Sitting in front of a computer all day was just not fulfilling enough for me. NBSS was a natural choice for me as I was already living in the Boston area.
When I wasn’t in school, I continued to work part-time as the office manager for the two firms where I had worked before NBSS. I also had an amazing internship (set-up through NBSS) with an established jewelry shop in Concord where I worked as a goldsmith. In the few hours left after school, work, and my internship, I spent my time developing my business, doing yoga, cooking, and playing the flute in a soul-folk band.
