Project Fire students glassblowing

Founded by glass artist Pearl Dick and clinical psychologist Bradley Stolbach, Project FIRE of Firebird Arts teaches glassblowing as trauma recovery for youth injured by gun violence in Chicago.

In addition to healing through glassblowing, Project FIRE, the flagship program of Firebird Community Arts, offers an employment and mentoring program with trauma-informed support groups, case management, and medical treatment-in partnership with Healing Hurt People-Chicago, a hospital-based violence intervention program.

Project FIRE works with 25 young people per session, including three hours of glassblowing and an hour of youth co-facilitated, trauma-informed support groups.

Pearl Dick joins us with members of her Project FIRE crew from Chicago to discuss healing youth through art, fire, craft, and making.
