I first became interested in violin making when I was studying music at the University of New Mexico. One of my English professors was a violin maker and I made my first violin with him. I also had the opportunity to travel to Italy and visit some of the historic violin making centers.
I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelors of University Studies in Violin Making. I chose NBSS to further my studies because I wanted a focused, hands-on program where I could concentrate on learning the luthier craft.
The Violin Making & Repair program is both challenging and enjoyable. It was a great experience… one I would recommend to anyone serious about learning to make stringed instruments. In the rare moments when I am not at my bench, I enjoy listening to and making music.
